Dave Franco Makes His Directorial Debut With The Rental

Dave Franco makes his directorial debut in the new Summer thriller The Rental with feature stars Alison Brie, Dan Stevens, Jeremy Allen White, and Sheila Vand.

The trailer begins with a man named Charlie played by Dan Stevens looking at rental houses on the PNW coast while Mina, played by Sheila Vand, supports his decision to book the weekend getaway. Once the trip gets underway, the tone of the journey starts with petty relationship arguments and irritation surrounding Josh and Mina, bringing their French bulldog Reggie along for the weekend when the rental strictly prohibits pets.

Upon reaching the beautiful cliffside property overlooking the water, the couples are met by caretaker Taylor who gives the foursome an unsettling experience after they chastised by the cohost of rental for trying to enter without a key and delivering a series of racist innuendos toward Mina.

After the group shakes off Taylor's stranger-danger vibe, the vacationers decide to let loose for the night with Charlie, Josh, and Mina doing a bit of molly and having a few drinks as Michelle goes to bed early. As the night goes on, unspoken sexual tensions between Charlie (Dan Stevens) and Mina (Shelia Vand) give in to their desires for one another that is later exposed to the group shortly after.

As the trip continues and deception comes to light, the group starts to notice they are being spied on after finding hidden cameras in the shower and a masked intruder lurking in the woods around the house.

Will the friends pull together and put their differences of mistrust and betrayal aside to make it out alive? Damned if we know, but we are down to watch the love triangle/psychodrama out now.
