Finally, Facebook confirms that the social media mega-brand is testing a Dark Mode feature for IOS devices. SocialMedia Today reported first that Facebook had released the testing pilot to a small percentage of users around the globe. The select users were able to access the dark mode within the settings and privacy settings section of their Facebook profile.
Ironically, users that gained access to the Dark Mode testing feature took to Twitter to share the new feature screenshots:
It comes as a shock that Facebook is so behind the times in releasing the Dark Mode feature since apps such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Twitter all of the functionality available. Even the search platform Google launched its dark mode feature earlier this year.
By offering low-light and dark mode options, users can change the background of the app to black to cut down on glare in low light environments while also giving the platform a more aesthetically pleasing look. But most importantly, dark mode assists in preserving your battery life.
