We see March starting strongly for fashion leaders as we head into Springtime, with the first product collaboration he had to touch on being between Gucci and Detroit Vs. Everybody. Tommey Walker, the founder of the clothing brand, who represents his Detroit's hometown with great pride through his brand, has decided to join forces with the globally known luxury brand to release a line of limited-edition tees.
The capsule collection is also accompanied by a video anthem featuring local Detroit "Changemaker" artists. This collaborative collection of t-shirts celebrates the cities labeled as a "Changemaker" for the country.
Tommey has never been one to shy away from repping his city and has been very open about his support for his hometown. These limited-edition t-shirts are all an honorary tribute to the free independent spirit of his fellow Detroiters.
"My partnership with Gucci is a dream come true, not just for me and my team, but also for celebrating the city of Detroit's cultural richness and innovation. "I've long admired the creative genius that is Alessandro Michele (Gucci Designer) and am honored and humbled that Gucci respects my work." - Tommey Walker
These logo tees don't just praise Detroit though they also recognize other cities in the US by incorporating other Changemaker regions just like Detroit. This inclusivity of other cities in the Gucci x Detroit Vs. Everybody mashup was done to bring about more diversity into the fashion industry and more communities in general.
There are 11 cities in total: Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington DC. We also see a special edition branded tee to commemorate this collaboration co-branded Gucci vs. Everybody. This co-branded tee is available for purchase at the Troy Somerset Collection Gucci store in Detroit.
Gucci's changemaker initiative was launched back in 2019 set out to make generous donations within those 11 communities. These communities support the social change that the initiative wants to bring about with a firm focus to build strong connections and provide more opportunities within communities of color.
The full collaborative collection of tees retail for $390 and is available now at 11 of Gucci's flagship outlets across the US and Gucci's online store.
