Jim Belushi's "Growing Belushi" Gives Insight to Belushi's Cannabis Operations

Actor Jim Belushi is taking his talents to the cannabis industry.

The Blue Brother actor stars in a new Discovery Channel series "Growing Belushi" that gives an inside look at Belushi's legal cannabis business Belushi Farms in Southern Oregon.

Growing Belushi covers the actor 93-acre farm along Oregon's Rogue River. In its debut episode, Jim touches on the tragic passing of his brother SNL star John Belushi who died of a cocaine overdose in his hotel room at Los Angeles's Chateau Marmont in 1982. Belushi believes that his brother's drug use stemmed from a traumatic brain injury he sustained from playing football in high school.

Belushi goes on to say, "I saw my brother have a seizure in my house and we didn't know what that was from," he says. "It was from banging his head and getting his bell rung. That's what I believe. If Johnny was a pothead, he'd still be here today."

Most of the series covers the day to day operations of Belushi Farms with regular appearances from his cousin Chris — who oversees the day-to-day operations and growers Ben and Alex. Even famed cannabis breeder Jack Murtha, aka marijuana celebrity "Captain Jack," makes a debut as Belushi grows Captain Jack's Gulzar Afghanica, also known as "The Smell of 'SNL."

Learn more about Belushi's journey in the cannabis world tune into his inaugural season 1 on Discovery Channel Wednesdays at 10 pm.
