Kim Jong-un Bans Skinny Jeans in North Korea

North Korea's Kim Jong-un Bans Skinny Jeans in his region.

We're not clear why North Korea despises pop culture and the numerous trends accompanying it, but it appears to be a recurring subject for the country every month or so.

According to reports, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has banned skinny jeans and ripped denim in the country. Hairstyles such as mullets and colored hair and body piercings, and other trendy fashion fads have also been prohibited. All of these limitations do not only relate to fashion; they have also prohibited any foreign content, particularly from their neighboring country, South Korea. According to sources, anyone who violates these bans will face harsh penalties. The stated justification for the country's restrictions on its citizens is that they all serve as symbols of a "capitalistic lifestyle."

The bans were announced by Kim Jong Un personally, who also appealed to the people of North Korea to do their part and follow the new guidelines. These restrictions are intended to prevent the western way of life and culture from becoming a fixture in the country. Rodong Sinmun, the government's media spokesman, taught North Korea's audience the same ideals in a public article he published, explicitly addressing the state's youth.

"History teaches us a crucial lesson that a country can become vulnerable and eventually collapse like a damp wall regardless of its economic and defense power if we do not hold on to our own lifestyle," Rodong wrote for the publication.
