Virgil Abloh has presented his latest designs in the Fall/Winter 2021 menswear collection for Louis Vuitton in a virtual fashion show to the World.
The FW21 collection feels fresh and inspiring as the designer beautifully reflects the World we live in today. The designer investigates unconscious biases and presumptions made by the society based on gender, sexuality, and how we dress.
The show created a dope storyline by using character themes such as "the Artist," "the Drifter," "the Salesman," and other archetypical individuals of society. Simultaneously, iconic hip-hop lyricist Mos Def took center stage as the show flowed around him.
The fashion show started with Saul Williams wearing LV's newest formalwear alongside a chrome monogram bag, slated to be one of the season's hottest items, no doubt on a snowy hilltop of Switzerland.
In this particular show, Virgil Abloh experimented and explored new styles that are at times unconventional. The show included long coats that dragged on the floor, coats inspired by skirts and bathrobes, and much more. FW21 also included Abloh's original streetwear as Louis Vuitton's monogram print covered bags, sneakers, suits, scarves, collegiate jackets, blazers, and puffer jackets.
The designer also introduced skirts along side his new "streetwear cowboy" style through exaggerated hats, statement boots, and buckled belts. Apart from this, men's formalwear for this season was also reinterpreted, with suits designed from materials such as plastic.
Pieces that completely stood out from the entire FW21 menswear collection included a transparent monogram suit, a sweater completed with mirrored Louis Vuitton monograms, and a sculptural jacket.
All in all, the men's FW21 collection by Virgil Abloh and Louis Vuitton was an amazing combination of bold apparel complemented with statement accessories while presenting the color green as a shared thread throughout the show. The show includes a diverse range of items from Virgil Abloh's streetwear to formalwear, which means that there will be something that will appeal to their vast fanbase.
