Naomi Osaka has placed herself in the limelight of tennis excellence after devouring her opponents in the Australian Open 2021 to become the champion yet again. Osaka proved to be quite the dominant force steamrolling her competition with a perfect record. Her run of dominance was something to see as she defeated her idol Serena Williams in the Australian Open 2021 semifinals to safely secure her spot in her fourth championship match in the tournament. After her win over the veteran, she had this to say in her soft tones.
"I have this mentality that people don't remember the runners-up. "You might, but the winner's name is the one that's engraved. I think I fight the hardest in the finals. I think that's where you sort of set yourself apart." -Naomi Osaka.
Her words were nothing short of a passionate performance on Saturday in the finals. Naomi entered as the crowd's favorite in the match, but it wouldn't be smooth sailing for the rising tennis player considering her opponent Jennifer Brady. Brady, we all knew, came ready to play right from the first serves. Both of the finalists were fighting fiercely and trying to achieve what they came for even after the draws.
Playing in the Rod Laver Arena right in front of a limited crowd, the 23-year-old Naomi Osaka fought valiantly to a 6-4, 6-3 victory all through the 77 minutes.
This powerful performance in the Australian Open 2021 final won't propel Naomi Osaka to No 1 in the rankings because of the pandemic adjusted points system. We're afraid she might have to be happy with the No 2 spot in the rankings for now. There has been no doubt left in anyone's mind that Naomi Osaka is one of the best tennis players of her generation and the face of women's tennis right now.
