The modern-day oracle of electric cars Elon Musk touches on his excitement surrounding Teslas upcoming Pickup on Ryan McCaffrey’s Ride the Lightning podcast. It seems that most of his enthusiasm is based upon the proposed price point of the pickup being under $50,000. By placing his new pickup under $50,000, Elon gives electric pickup Rivian R1T, a run for their money, literally as the R1T starts at a hefty $69,000. Elon states, “It’s going to be a truck that is more capable than other trucks. The goal is to be a better truck than an [Ford] F-150 in terms of truck-like functionality and be a better sports car than a standard [Porsche] 911. That’s the aspiration.” Musk boots feature’s like up to 300,000 pounds of towing capacity, six-passenger seating, 240-volt connection for tools, up to 500-mile range per charge and dual motor AWD to name a few.
