The famous contemporary artist Takashi Murakami has revealed that he is about to release a new sculpture named ‘Melting DOB.’ The Japanese creative’s ‘Melting DOB’ figure is an obvious reimagining of his previous work titled ‘Mr. DOB.’

This new multi-colored sculpture features a wide range of colors, particularly a combination of red and blue across its head. Apart from this, the mascot is depicting two psychedelic appearances. On one side, the figure has terrifying fangs and fierce eyes, while the other side shows a calm and easy-going personality due to its half-lidded eyes. Many believe that the Japanese artist is hinting towards a dual-personality in its latest figure.

Each ‘Melting DOB’ is made up of painted cast vinyl and comes with a metallic stand. The figure measures 9.9 inches high and 12.4 inches wide. At the bottom of this approximately one square-foot figure, you can find “©TM/KK MADE IN JAPAN” written alongside Takashi’s signature and flower motif.

The ‘Melting DOB’ is priced at approximately 2,167 USD (HKD 16,800) and will be available for sale at Perrotin Hong Kong’s store from January 28, 2021. The date also signals the 28th year since the notorious artist launched his original ‘Mr. DOB.’ These collective figures are exclusively launching in Asia. To make things worse for the fans and potential buyers, Takashi has announced that there will be only 300 pieces available for sale.

Obviously, the new ‘Melting DOB’ will be one of the must-have items that nobody can lay their hands on.
