The first trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage has been released, revealing some chaos-filled and over-the-top action-packed moments, including Venom preparing a terrible catastrophe for Eddie's breakfast, which made for a funny moment in the preview.
The three-minute trailer revealed more of Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage, as played by Woody Harrelson. One thing to note is the creepy vibe emanating from the character. The insane and psychopathic Cletus speaks to our favorite anti-hero, Venom, in the trailer's voiceover, addressing Eddie's name, who Tom Hardy plays. "Eddie, I've been thinking about you since you and I are identical. Every decision you've ever made — who are we leaving behind, and how are we leaving them?"
The 2018 Venom delivered the same jokes that worked for it, so it seems that we will see more of the buddy Jekyll and Hyde satire in the sequel. Venom also made box office history by having the highest domestic box office opening of an R-rated film, with $80.2 million. The record was later broken by Warner Bros.' Joker in 2019. It has yet to be seen if the sequel will be R-rated or not.
The second installment will be part of Sony's planned interconnected Spiderverse universe. The film, directed by Andy Serkis, will also star Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, and Naomie Harris. The film Venom: Let There Be Carnage will be released in theaters on September 24.
