The creative director of LV Men's, Virgil Abloh, is back to dominating the luxury fashion world in only a fashion he can execute. This time around, he's kicking off summer in a cool, breezy, and radiant manner. The Louis Vuitton Men's Spring/Summer 21 capsule collection featuring East London-born trap rapper 21 Savage.
Virgil stages the trap star in the SS21 capsule collection standing next to Cali's Venice beach waterfront, as 21 brings the Californian skater culture to life. The entire Men's SS21 collection is reminiscent of the West Coast's art and skater culture through the eyes of Abloh.
The "Mr. Right Now" rapper dons a diverse set of Virgil Abloh's artistic impressions. This includes the ever recognizable bucket hat, which stays in line with the breezy and colorful vibe. The collection also features vibrant pullovers, shorts, a crewneck, among other floaty designs.
Of course, you can't have an LV collection without the iconic LV monogram being splashed around. However, this time around, Virgil makes it look almost natural. Perhaps it's the clever placement of these logos, the colors, or maybe even the fresh, scenic background. We can talk about the designs all day, but it's these pictures that actually end up representing what Abloh wanted to express.
This isn't the first time Abloh and 21 have worked together. 21 Savage had also appeared in the Off-White Fall/Winter collection back in 2016. Of course, 21 lives the laidback yet high fashion life, which in many of his hits, you can hear him talking about brands like Gucci, Balenciaga, and Luis Vuitton. So, this collaboration only seems natural.
Other than that, the collection focuses on the brand's eco-friendly strategy. None of these colors use chlorine, metals, or other materials that could harm the environment. By 2025 LV promises that most if not all of their products will adhere to environmentally friendly guidelines.
