To start things off, Sony, Nintendo, and EA will not be present at the trade show. We know we are a little disappointed too. Nintendo, on the other hand, usually has a Nintendo Direct around the same time as E3, but it's not actually at E3. Last year was cringy, really cringy, and we hope the developers this year take the time to have their PR staff to rehearse their productions and queues. The other thing was the near double digits of musical performances that were not necessary or entertaining beyond how bad some of them were. We are looking at you Rage 2… The structure of the shows last year were not, and there were times when they had to hold intermissions where they moved the audience from one stage to another for the rest of the presentations. The show lost its impact last year, mainly because the trade show was designed for developers to network with retailers for holiday releases not for the consumer to see the new games coming out. At this point, retailers make game purchases in February instead of June because it is way too late in the year to be stocking up for the last quarter of the year. Nowadays, E3 is as less of a trade show and more of a developer direct to the consumers/fans. Companies are still blind to the new format and are trying to market to retailers rather than exciting the fan base actually to buy their game. Sony seems to be sitting in their ivory tower feeling like they are on the top of the world and if history has taught us anything, one day soon that can change and they might be lower than their competitors. Microsoft, on the other hand, will have a show but they will not have a booth on the floor for fans to play their games during E3, but instead, they own property across the street where they will be hosting their booth in their Microsoft theatre. There are other big names in the industry like Ubisoft, Bethesda, and Square Enix, but there are negatives to those show too. Ubisoft is usually pretty cringed, Square Enix last year had a horrible show even though Kingdom Hearts 3 was coming out and Bethesda has destroyed their company all year, so it's not looking too pretty this year. Gaming news is no longer released a few times a year like it used to be it is now 24/7 online ready for the consumers to devour it. We hope that those that are pulling out this year will still have their shows on their terms near E3's time slots. These shows are near and dear to our hearts as it gives us things to look forward to later in the year.
