Wilson Unveils Official NBA 2021-2022 Game Ball as the 2020 season Comes to an End

The NBA 2021-2022 season is already getting heated up, and it looks like a pretty significant change has been made as Wilson Sporting Goods Co has come into the fray with a brand-new ball. The sports equipment manufacturer has partnered up with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to become the official ball provider by replacing Spalding.

Wilson has agreed to a multi-year partnership with the NBA, making this the first time the brands have joined hands together since the basketball league was created back in 1946 till 1983. In 1983 Spalding swooped in and took control over providing leather basketballs, signing a new contract. Now that Wilson has taken over the reins for basketball production, there seems to be less of a chance for Spalding to make a comeback as the official manufacturer for the coming years. The design unveiling of the official brand new ball was done recently ahead of the 75TH anniversary season.

The ball presents much of the same features as the Spalding ball used in this NBA 2020-21 season. It is composed of much of the same materials used in the previous one and has the same size. It also carries the identical eight-panel construction utilized in its predecessor, making for an easy pass and play between the athletes. Although, we also get to see a few differences with the new ball, as it provides an improved grip to hold onto with its deeper grooves making for a seamless game. It also features the same iconic NBA logos with the company's branding logo branding rimmed in anthracite grey.
